MyPay LES Guide

You’ve likely used myPay at least for a bit if you’re in the military or a retired military member.

Many of your pay transfers can be processed using MyPay whenever you need to, without the need for long forms, approval signatures, or nagging your finance department. You can check your retirement account, set your TSP payments, and get your monthly vacation and income statements (LES).

But MyPay also offers a tonne of additional features. And here are the applications for it.

Obtain Your LES

Your most crucial military pay document is your monthly vacation and income statement (LES). Your pay, leave information, and entitlements are all included.

It also includes details on any impending actions on your payment account or government debts.

Click the “Printer Friendly LES” button in the top right corner of the LES screen to access the default view of your LES.

Understanding Your LES

In the online browser and printer-friendly versions of myPay, the same fields are included but in a different order.

The following fields display in the stand-alone, printer-friendly version of your LES in the following order:

Administrative data can be found in fields one through nine on your LES. Except for your rank, years of service, and expiry period of service (ETS) date, most of your information will remain unchanged. If these sections don’t update immediately as your career develops, get in touch with your neighborhood finance office.

You can find information about your compensation and retirement plan in fields 10 to 24 of your LES. Make sure your entitlement, deductions, and allotments are accurate by paying close attention to them.

Your eligibility for High-3 Legacy or the Blended Retirement System is determined by your DIEMS, which is the date you first enlisted in the military and obtained military status.

Your leave information can be found in fields 25 through 32.

You can find your federal income tax withholding information in fields 33 to 49.

Verify that the exemptions listed in field 36 are accurate. On the other hand, claiming too few exemptions could result in a larger return at the end of the year, but that money would have been better off in an account that pays interest.

Additional pay information can be found in fields 50 to 62. Your allowances, including housing, COLA, and rations, are described in these sections.

Information on the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) is contained in fields 63 to 75.

Remarks and the year entitlements and deductions are contained in fields 76 to 78.

Every month, you should read the remarks section. It also includes any other information that is relevant to your pay situation, such as early warning of indebtedness, special leave status, expiry dates, etc.

Please Go To Your Statement Of Military Compensation

Some banks base their determination of your income on the “taxable income” on your W-2, however, if you’re deployed or getting tax-free benefits wouldn’t be a true representation of your income. Your (PSMC) gives lenders further information about your income.

The PSMC displays an estimate of the value of your military income and benefits in the civilian economy.

Your PSMC can aid in your ability to obtain credit, including a mortgage.

By going to the “Statements” area of your myPay account, Army or Air Force members can utilize myPay to access their PSMC.

Marines and sailors cannot use myPay to access their PSMC.

By providing some basic data to the Department of Defense’s standard military compensation calculator, sailors can produce a PSMC.

Marine Online accounts allow users to access their PC.

Create Allotments

Both elective and non-discretionary allotments can be set up using myPay.

Up to six optional allotments can be designed to pay bills or distribute funds among other accounts.

You may create an infinite number of non-discretionary accounts for things like:

past-due taxesfederal debt

Log into myPay, click “Pay Changes,” then choose “Allotments” to start, stop, or modify allotments.

Purchase Tax Statements

Your tax statements are accessible through myPay in the “Statements” section.

Filing Travel Reimbursements

Using the SmartVoucher application, you can submit some travel coupons using your MyPay login information.

Direct Deposit Information Update

To amend your direct deposit information, utilize myPay rather than going to your neighborhood payroll office. Log into myPay and go to “Pay Changes” to connect your bank accounts.

Your login and routing numbers can be added or modified there.

A Limited Access Account is created.

Did you also know you could create a restricted account for a legal representative or another reliable person? This is perfect if you want to give someone access to read your tax and LES statements without giving them the power to adjust your payment.

Select “Limited Access Account” under “Personal Settings” to configure this.

Establish A Beneficiary For Arrears

Military retirees have the option of naming a beneficiary to receive their final paycheck and any other assets to which they are legally entitled upon death. The term “arrears of pay” refers to this last payment.

Click “Pay Changes” to make changes to your beneficiary designation.

Set Contributions To A Thrift Savings Account

In the “Pay Changes” section of myPay, you can modify your contributions to the TSP. Other adjustments must be made via the TSP website or by completing and submitting Form TSP-U-1, Thrift Savings Plan Election Form, to your finance office.
