This weekend we’re focusing on all the Chinese New Year goodness that’s lingering. Because Year of the Dog. Firecrackers. Dumplings.

Welcome to the main event

When: Saturday, February 24th, 5:30 P.M. – 8:30 P.M.

Where: Chinatown, San Francisco

Why: San Francisco’s annual Chinese New Year parade has been named one of the top 10 in the world, and is the largest of its kind outside of Asia. Kind of a big deal, yeah? In addition to exploding firecrackers and ferocious lions, you’ll also get to see the newly crowned Miss Chinatown U.S.A. and her court. The parade begins on Market, goes up Geary, down Post and ends on Kearny at Columbus. Don’t miss this!

Dumplings give us all life

When: Sunday, February 25th, 11 A.M. – 5 P.M.

Where: 428 11th St.

Why: You know the SoMa street food park would never let us down, and they haven’t. Save your appetite for street food vendors such as Happy Dumplings, Hongry Kong, Tai Chi Jianbing, Yummi BBQ, and Baby Bok Choy Bros. This means gyoza, shumai, wontons, fish balls, onion pancakes, bao buns, fried chicken, fried rice, noodles and more. // General admission is $5 for persons over age 10, $23-25 Bottomless Kumquat Mimosas and E.S. Herbal Tonic Ale passes available.

Celebrate the cultured way

When: Sunday, February 25th, 12 P.M. – 4:30 P.M.

Where: Oakland Museum of California

Why: Rescue dogs. Dragon dances. Cooking demonstrations. If those things don’t sell you on on this 17th annual celebration of Asian traditions, we’re not sure what will. Explore connections between the diverse Asian cultures represented in California, including Chinese, Tibetan, Korean, Vietnamese, Malaysian, and Japanese.
